Window replacement approved at Auburn High School

Auburn High School classrooms will receive new windows, blinds and shades in the coming months, following the Rockford School Board’s approval tonight of window replacement work.

The board agreed to hire Rock Valley Glass for the approximately $1.1 million project. Two companies responded to the Invitation for Bid: Rock Valley Glass for $1,095,900 and Cardinal Glass Company for $1,246,000.

The project was initially budgeted for about $1 million. The 2013-14 capital budget includes funding for this project, with about $93,000 coming from the capital project contingency fund.

New, high efficiency window were recently added at East High School. They’re expected to save thousands of dollars each year in natural gas. The construction projects are part of the $311 million Facilities Master Plan. Officials expect the Auburn windows project to be completed in August.
