The W32.Sasser.B.Worm can affect the following operating systems:

Windows XP Home
Windows XP Professional
Windows 2000 Professional & Server

When prompted, click on "Open" or "Open from this location" and follow the instructions below, then reboot.

Step1: Run the Sasser Fix Tool (W32.Sasser.B.Worm Fix) - After clicking the link from the above table to download the Removal Tool for your Operating System choose to "Open" or "Open from this location".  See screen below

Step2: Click on the "Start" button to begin a scan of your system.  Please be patient, this could take 5-20 minutes depending on you computer.

Step3: When the scan is complete it will display the results. Click on OK to close the report.



Step4: Click on the link for the Patch for your Operating System from the table above.



Step5: When prompted, click on "Open" or "Open from this location"
Step6:After a 1-5 minute download, the KB Setup Wizard will appear.
Click "Next" to continue the installation of security patch provided by Microsoft.  See screen below.

Step7:When the License Agreement window appears, you will need
to select "I Agree"


Step8: Click "Next". 
The installation should then complete.


Step9:After the installation is completed, you will need to click "Finish".
The computer should then restart.  If it does not restart automatically
after you click Finish, then please restart your computer.

After your computer has finished restarting, your computer should now be free of the W32.Sasser.B.Worm and it should be protected with the security patch that was provided by Microsoft.  If you have any difficulties with the installation process or need assistance, please contact the RPS-IT Help Desk at 966-3112 or helpdesk@rps205.com.
