The W32.Blaster.Worm and W32.Welchia.Worm can affect the following operating systems:

Windows XP Home
Windows XP Professional
Windows 2000 Professional & Server
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation & Server

When prompted, click on "Open" or "Open from this location" and follow the instructions below, then reboot.

Step1: Click on the link for Patch #1 for your Operating System
Step2: When prompted, click on "Open" or "Open from this location"

Step3:After a brief moment, the KB Setup Wizard will appear.
Click "Next" to continue the installation of security
patch provided by Microsoft.  See screen below.

Step4:When the License Agreement window appears, you will need
to select "I Agree"
Step5: Click "Next". 
The installation should then complete.

Step6:After the installation is completed, you will need to click "Finish".
The computer should then restart.  If it does not restart automatically
after you click Finish, then please restart your computer.

Step7: Click on the link for Patch #2 for your Operating System
Step8: When prompted, click on "Open" or "Open from this location"

Step9:After a brief moment, the KB Setup Wizard will appear. 
Click "Next" to continue the installation of security
patch provided by Microsoft.  See screen below.

Step10:When the License Agreement window appears, you will need
to select "I Agree"
Step11: Click "Next". 
The installation should then complete.

Step12:After the installation is completed, you will need to click "Finish".

Step13: Run the Virus search tool. (W32.Welchia.Worm Fix)

After clicking the link to download the Removal Tool for your Operating System
choose to "Open" the Removal Tool.  See screen below

Then you will be prompted to start the Symantec W32.Welchia.Worm removal tool:

Step14:Click on Start and the tool will search your system
and remove any instances of the virus. (This could take 30 minutes
or more to complete, depending upon the speed of your computer
and the amount of data on it.)

Step15:When finished the Removal tool will state that
the procedure has finished and you may click on OK to close
the Removal Tool window
