Save the Date: Celebrate RPS 205 Fine Arts April 9

Rockford Public Schools will host the sixth annual Fine Arts Hall of Fame awards and banquet on April 9.

The annual awards ceremony began in 2016 after I attended the 2015 Champions Ball & Athletic Hall of Fame. I couldn’t stop thinking about how RPS 205 needed a similar event to highlight individuals and groups from Rockford Public Schools who have gone on to achieve great success in the arts.

While the 2021 Fine Arts Hall of Fame class was celebrated virtually, we’re excited to host the 2022 awards in person again at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Rockford. We have moved our venue back to the Radisson as we expect a much larger turnout this year.

Nominees must be a former Rockford Public Schools student(s) who went on to achieve tremendous success in their arts field, or an educator or advocate who has made a valuable impact on the arts. Individuals are nominated by the Rockford community, and the Rockford Fine Arts Coalition reviews nominations and determines the class inductees.

Next month RPS 205 will announce the four inductees for the 2022 Fine Arts Hall of Fame Class, plus information about ticket sales.

This year's class includes a Grammy-Award winner who has performed at the Super Bowl, and a performer who toured with Christina Aguilera.

I am so excited to share this year’s Hall of Fame Class with our students, staff and the community next month, and I can’t wait to celebrate them live and in person!
