Electric Ellis Elementary: "Camp No Other Person Like You!"

students looking in the mirror at camp

Excitement, laughter, cheer, hugs – all of the joyous things heard and seen among students and staff on the first day of camp at Ellis Elementary School.

Camp No Other Person Like You! kicked off on Wednesday, June 19. The supporting staff wore matching tie dye shirts, eager to start day one. Students enthusiastically entered Ellis ready to learn with old and new friends. Students received backpacks and school supplies, found their classrooms, and attended classes ranging from math and language arts to sports, Discovery Center, media arts and arts integration!

On day two of camp, students explored the camp’s theme of self-growth. More specifically, week one guided students through the Understanding Myself theme. Teachers and aides led fun activities that helped students discover who they are and recognize self-characteristics. Students had a blast using mirrors to show various emotions which helped them draw self-portraits.

Day three of camp consisted of students exploring technology applications. Some students practiced interviewing each other, learning about their self-characteristics, talents and favorite things to do. Students used technology to complete the interviews while filming each other.

I am excited to learn and grow with every student as camp continues through the next couple of weeks!
