Gregory Elementary School Going for its Fifth Touchdown School Award

Gregory students engaged in Fuel Up to Play60

Gregory Elementary School is a Fuel Up to Play 60 school. We are going for our fifth touchdown school award in five years. Five years ago, I pursued the Fuel Up to Play 60 program because it enhances our students' knowledge about healthy eating, encourages working out on a daily basis and educates students about farming and how farmers impact our life.

I want to thank Mr. Zediker, who was our principal at the time I started the program, for letting me bring this program to our school. I want to thank our principal, Mrs. Leider, for allowing me to continue the program. I also want to thank West View teacher Ms. Amanda Nguygen for creating the Running Club at Gregory years ago and teaching our students not to cut corners in running or in life. Plus, I want to give a shoutout to Mrs. Witherby for continuing our Fuel up to Play 60 Running Club when I am unavailable.

Last month the Chicago Bears visited Gregory to kickoff this year's program. We will follow up in February 2020 and invite a farmer to our school to teach our students the basics of being a farmer and what they do for us on a daily basis.

I highly recommend becoming a Fuel Up to Play 60 School. For more information visit the Fuel Up to Play 60 website.
