Alumni Spotlight: Auburn Alumna Annie Hobson

​Antionette "Annie" Hobson graduated from Auburn High School in 2003. She has a bachelor's degree in social work and a master's degree in human services. She is working to complete a second master's degree in school counseling. She attended Dennis Early Childhood Center, Stiles Elementary School and Lincoln Middle School before attending Auburn. She works for the City of Rockford in the Mayor's Office and is the Project Manager for Camp Hope.

What's your favorite memory about attending school in RPS 205? My favorite memory from attending RPS 205 comes from being on the girls basketball team at Auburn High School. I learned so much about leadership, work ethic, teamwork, being a young woman and building positive character traits. I learned that it is OK to make mistakes and that laughter is one of the greatest joys of life. I also learned that laughter and goofing off at the wrong time during practice would land us at the line to run multiple laps and line drills. I still have nightmares of running line drills. However, it was all worth it! Thank you Mr. Rumore and Danielle Potter.

How has your time in Rockford Public Schools contributed to your success – whether in your career or life? Attending school in RPS 205 has contributed to my success by the way of connections and supportive allies. I was able to connect with several teachers who became a part of my cheer team. Having those people added to my support system truly aided in many of my successes.

Is there anything else you want to say about your time in RPS 205? Advice for seniors? A teacher, coach or mentor you want to thank? Thank you Mr. Bryan Ott, Mrs. Vikki Benson and Ms. Wanda Hill for always having my back!

Seniors! My advice to you is this: Rock this last year out. Have fun, make memories and connect with people who will advocate for you and support your dreams, and be proud of your swag. No one does it like you!
