Auburn's Marianna Ruggerio named Outstanding High School Physics Teacher of the Year

Marianna Ruggerio holding award plaque

Each school year the Illinois Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) receives nominations of outstanding high school physics teachers in the state. The AAPT recently recognized Marianna Ruggerio of Auburn High School as the Illinois Outstanding High School Physics Teacher of the Year. This award is presented each fall to a teacher in the state who exemplifies excellent physics teaching. This award was presented to Mrs. Ruggerio at the end of October.

Mrs. Ruggerio has outstanding results with her students on AP physics exams, a high number of students receiving scholarships to universities and excellent student engagement. She is the past president of the Chicago Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers. Mrs. Ruggerio has presented best practices for student engagement with advanced students for the Auburn faculty as well as at the National Association of Gifted Children.

We are lucky to have Mrs. Ruggerio on the team at Auburn High School as well as on our RPS 205 team. Please join us in congratulating her on this stellar achievement and celebrating the gift she shares with our students. Thank you, Mrs. Ruggerio!
