The Voice: Holding the Line for Taxpayers, Homeowners
There’s a misconception that Rockford Public Schools has the highest tax rate in the region. The district’s tax rate is competitive among local school districts and ranked sixth of 12 districts. Rockford Public Schools’ rate is 6.26 – which means $6.26 per $100 of equalized assessed value is the amount due to the district. District leaders anticipate a rate below 6.00 for the 2022-23 tax cycle.
