2021-22 Back-to-School Registration

RPS 205 families,

We’re adjusting our back-to-school registration process again this year because of the ongoing health crisis. Here’s what you can expect to register for the 2021-22 school year:

  • The district will mail registration packets to all current K-11 families in mid-May. The deadline to return packets is Monday, June 7.
  • Registration packets for current Early Childhood students and students entering kindergarten will be mailed in July. The deadline to return packets is Monday, Aug. 2.
  • Families are encouraged to include proof of school and sports physicals when they return completed packets.

All registration packets will include a postage-paid envelope to return completed packets. Do not return packets to your child’s school.

Student fees reminder: The School Board approved plans to eliminate most student fees for the 2021-22 school year. Students and their families will not be required to pay fees next school year for arts/music, athletics, lab fees or Advanced Placement exams. High school students will still be required to pay fees for some optional items: on-campus parking permits, driver education (behind-the-wheel training), athletic gate admission pass, credit recovery and summer school.

Address changes: Visit the Welcome Center to update your home address, 501 7th St., or call Welcome Center staff at 815-967-8070 for more information.

Families in Transition: Families who live in transitional housing can re-enroll in FIT services. Students in the FIT program will receive a registration packet when they re-enroll in the FIT Program. If you secure your own housing, a registration packet will be made available at your home school, or request one by emailing registrationhelp@rps205.com.

Physicals: Students need a health exam/physical within one year of starting kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade -- or when entering an Illinois school system for the first time. All other high school students need a sports physical if they plan to participate in sports. Sports physicals are good for 13 months and do not replace the required ninth grade physical. Completed physical paperwork can be included in registration packets.

What’s next: School’s main office staff will share more specific details about classroom assignments, any fines that need to be paid from the current school year, and help students with medication connect with the school nurse. Thank you!
