Lizbeth Medina

We shared news in February about more than a dozen RPS 205 student artists earning recognition in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Now one of those Gold Key Award winners has been recognized with a National Art & Writing Award! Congratulations to Jefferson High School senior Lizbeth Medina whose work “Confusion” was awarded a Silver Medal in the painting division in the 2022 National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!

More than 100,000 students submitted more than 260,000 works of art and writing to the 2022 Scholastic Awards. Lizbeth's work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Less than 2,000 works received a National Medal, which places her within the top 1 percent of all submissions!

Lizbeth will receive a silver medal and certificate. Her work will be published in the Online Galleries at artandwriting.org in June, and her name will be listed in Yearbook 2022, a companion to the Scholastic Art & Writing annual publication of Best Teen Art and Best Teen Writing, which feature selections of works by National Medalists.
