Remote-only instruction: What to expect Nov. 30-Dec. 18

RPS 205 families and staff,

We’d like to share more information about the adaptive pause – or temporary break from in-person instruction – that starts Monday, Nov. 30 and runs through Friday, Dec. 18, the start of winter break.

Early Childhood: Students will receive learning materials to take home, and teachers will share learning opportunities through Seesaw and plan to connect weekly with families. Be sure your Seesaw family app is downloaded and updated.

Elementary: Elementary students will follow their regular class schedule to provide consistency for students and staff. Students will receive iPads or Chromebooks before they leave for fall break. Be sure your Seesaw family app is downloaded and updated. WIN Wednesdays will continue for all students.

Middle & high school: Middle and high school students and staff will follow a shortened bell schedule with 25-minute classes. School leaders will share details directly with students and families in the coming days. Students in grades 6-12 will have a shared lunch period from 12:25-12:55 p.m. During this adaptive pause, students will connect synchronously with their teachers before lunch. Students will participate in small group instruction and project completion each afternoon and can connect with teachers during designated office hours for additional support. WIN Wednesdays will continue for all students.

Student expectations: Students will be expected to follow their schedule and complete their assigned work. This is not a break, and teaching and learning will continue with our standard expectations. Expect to hear from your teachers on Monday, Nov. 30.

Family expectations: We know this change won’t be easy for all students and families. We’re prioritizing students’ education and health, and consistency is key for students. Make sure you know how to connect with your teachers and principal, and regularly check emails and messages for information from teachers and staff.

Internet at home: Visit and click on the “Student Tech Support” button for Internet access help:

  • Comcast Internet Essentials in-home internet at $9.95/month for qualified families.
  • RPS 205-sponsored Comcast Internet Essentials
  • T-Mobile HotSpot through T-Mobile's EmpowerED program

No school on Dec. 2: Students will not connect on Wednesday, Dec. 2. This is a remote planning day for all PreK-12 teachers and staff. This is also a non-program day for Early Childhood students.

Childcare: We’re working with our community partners to connect families with childcare options during this three-week pause from in-person instruction. Visit for more information.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation during this time. We’re switching to remote-only instruction for all RPS 205 students as a temporary but necessary step to try to support the latest increased mitigation strategies during this pandemic. We’re making this move with support from the Winnebago County Health Department and our School Board. Please have a safe fall break.
