Rockford Public Schools’ rate is 6.26 – which means $6.26 per $100 of equalized assessed value is the amount due to the district. District leaders anticipate a rate below 6.00 for the 2022-23 tax cycle.

The RPS 205 School Board and administration have committed to hold the line and keep the tax levy flat or nearly flat for the better part of a decade. In turn, the district’s tax rate has dropped significantly over the last 10 years. The district’s rate is down from 7.93 as recently as the 2015 levy year. The financial stewardship of successive School Boards speaks for itself.

“I am proud of our School Board’s continued commitment to the taxpayers,” said Superintendent Ehren Jarrett. “The board’s efforts to hold the line on property taxes is illustrated in this week’s report, and it puts Rockford Public Schools in a competitive position regionally.”

District leaders and School Board members are working to support the Rockford community to attract and retain families and a workforce.
