School Zones

RPS 205 believes strong neighborhood schools allow our students and families to develop a strong sense of family and community within the school and neighborhood.

Those who live in or are planning to move to the Rockford area can use our school zone locator to determine the assigned school zone.

New Attendance Boundaries in Northwest Rockford

The Rockford School Board approved new attendance boundaries for the 2023-24 school year that adjust zones for Conklin, McIntosh, Welsh and West View elementary schools. Read more about the change and view maps on the 205 VIBE.

Zone School Waitlist

Per school board policy 7.30, students are to attend the zone school that corresponds to the address of the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). If a seat is not available at the time of enrollment, students are placed on a waitlist and sent to the nearest school with seat availability. A student's placement on the waitlist will be according to the following criteria:

  1. Those with siblings currently attending the zone school will be listed first. Those with siblings will be listed in chronological enrollment/change of address order from one another but before those who do not have siblings attending the zone school.
  2. Those without siblings currently attending the zone school will be listed after those with siblings already attending that school. Those without siblings at that school will be listed in chronological enrollment/change of address order from one another but after all who have siblings currently attending the zone school.
