How to Apply for a 6th-Grade seat in the 2025-2026 school year at the STEAM Academy program at West Middle School
1) Submit the Interest Form (date and time-stamped sensitive)
Complete and submit the interest form by Friday, February 21, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
2) Attend a Mandatory Informational Session
A Parent/Legal Guardian must attend one of the mandatory February informational sessions:
Wednesday, Feb 19, 2025, from 5:00pm-6:00pm at West Middle School
Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 5:00PM to 6:00PM at West Middle School
3) Receive Notification of Results
In March, you will receive an email with your student's results, which may include one of the following:
A seat offer
A unique ID number for the interest list
Notification of ineligibility for the program
*Notice: Submitting an interest form does not guarantee seat placement. Priority for the program is given to current 5th-grade students at STEAM Academy at Haskell and students with current siblings at STEAM Academy. A Parent/Legal Guardian must attend the mandatory informational session for the interest application to be valid and eligible for seat placement review. If the mandatory informational session is not attended, the submitted interest form will be considered invalid. Families will have the opportunity to re-submit a new interest form when the application window re-opens at a later date.
Did your 5th grade Student accept a CAPA seat for 25-26 School Year?
Please note that STEAM Academy and CAPA are two separate programs, and there is no option for a student to participate in both programs at West Middle School. However, you are still welcome to apply and attend the parent informational meeting for STEAM Academy. If your student receives a seat offer for STEAM Academy, you will need to decide whether to accept or decline the offer.
