The Culture and Student Engagement Department is thrilled to introduce a powerful and transformative training to RPS District 205: Restorative Practices! These practices focus on building strong relationships, repairing harm, and creating a sense of community within our schools, moving away from punitive approaches and toward meaningful connection and resolution.
After hearing directly from our teachers and staff about the need for more supportive and relationship-centered strategies, our department took action! We partnered with the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP) and brought this impactful two-day training to the NIU-Rockford campus. A dynamic and diverse group of staff members participated, gaining valuable tools and insights they can use not only in their classrooms and departments, but in their everyday lives. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re hopeful that more training opportunities are on the horizon for the upcoming school year.
Let’s continue building a culture where relationships, respect, and restoration are at the heart of what we do!
