Superintendent Search

A Community-Driven Process

Rockford Public School District 205 has officially launched its search for the next superintendent. The Board of Education has partnered with BWP & Associates, a national search firm, to lead an open, transparent process designed to ensure that Rockford has a chance to be heard.

“Choosing a superintendent is the most important decision a school board makes,” said Paul Carpenter, RPS 205 Board President. “This isn’t just about filling a role, and we’re not looking for a superintendent who simply works here. We’re looking for a person who leads us forward on our path, and that path is shaped by the voices from our community.”

Success isn’t measured by titles or test scores alone

It’s measured by something deeper. It’s found in students who feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. It’s reflected in families who trust that their children are seen, valued, and given every opportunity to thrive. It lives in staff who feel connected, supported, and empowered to do their best work. And it shows up in a community that sees its diversity as a strength and its schools as the heart of its future. That’s what we’re working toward together, and that’s the standard by which we’ll measure our next leader.

Your Voice in the Process

BWP & Associates will use a variety of tools to gather input from the Rockford community. That includes one-on-one interviews with stakeholders, focus groups, and active listening sessions across the city. In addition, an online survey will be available at rps205.com/super-search , and every student, parent, staff member, and community member is encouraged to participate. This feedback will directly inform the leadership profile for the next superintendent, ensuring that the choice reflects the hopes and priorities of our community.
