SpringMath

RPS began using SpringMath during the 2026–2027 school year to help students in kindergarten through eighth grade build strong math skills. SpringMath gives students extra practice with important math skills, such as solving problems accurately and recalling math facts quickly and confidently. This daily practice takes 15–20 minutes and is designed to support, not replace, students’ regular grade-level math instruction through i-Ready Math. Building these skills over time helps prepare students for more challenging math, including algebra in high school.

Teachers begin by giving students a short paper-and-pencil screening to identify which math skills may need more practice. Students then work on these skills through daily classroom activities, often working with partners and encouraging one another as they learn. Teachers track students’ progress to celebrate skills they have mastered and identify where more support may be helpful. SpringMath also offers additional support for students who need more practice beyond the daily classroom activities.

SpringMath is currently being used in 23 of RPS 205's 25 elementary schools and in all RPS middle schools. Early results and feedback from schools are encouraging. As of September 28, every elementary school that had started the daily activities had already mastered at least one SpringMath skill, and many classrooms had mastered several. Teachers have also shared how excited students are to reach their goals, celebrate their progress, and help one another succeed.

As schools continue using SpringMath, teachers are finding ways to fit the daily practice into their math schedules alongside regular lessons, i-Ready Math, and small-group learning. RPS will continue listening to feedback from teachers, tracking student progress, and providing support to schools throughout the year. The goal is to help every student develop the math skills and confidence needed to succeed as they move through school.
