Beloit, WI – Rockford Jefferson High School athletes delivered strong performances at the Hononegah Quad track and field meet held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Beloit College - Strong Memorial Stadium. Facing competition from Rockton (Hononegah), Rockford (East), and Belvidere, the Jefferson team showcased talent across various events.
Highlight Performances:
The 4x100 Relay Varsity team consisting of Mekhi Calloway (12), Innocent Mairo (12), Anthony Harris (9), and Antonio Alexander (12) claimed first place with a time of 45.39a. A second relay team (B) finished in 6th place.
Sophomore Janardie Turner had an outstanding meet, winning the Varsity 100 Meters with a time of 11.26a. He also secured second place in the Varsity 110m Hurdles with a personal record (PR) of 14.19a.
In the Varsity 200 Meters, Innocent Mairo (12) finished 7th (23.82a), followed closely by Mekhi Calloway (12) in 8th place with a PR of 23.86a. Other Jefferson runners in the 200m included Antonio Alexander (12) finishing 12th with a PR (24.26a), Anthony Harris (9) in 14th (24.42a), Nahom Zere (12) in 24th with a PR (25.42a), and Jean-Claude Djegueme (9) in 30th with a PR (26.03a). Kenneth Malyvanh (12) also recorded a PR (28.11a).
Senior Nahom Zere achieved a PR in the Varsity 400 Meters, finishing 9th with a time of 55.94a.
In the Varsity 1600 Meters, Aiden LeClaire (11) finished 7th with a PR of 5:17.79a, and Dominick Erickson (11) finished 14th with a season record (SR) of 5:36.88a.
Additional Notable Results:
Sammy Neubauer (11) finished 6th in the Varsity 800 Meters (2:20.29a).
Kakusa Kasongo (10) recorded a PR in the Varsity 400m Hurdles (1:10.81a).
In field events, Devin Johnson (9) placed 5th in the Varsity High Jump (J1.68m).
Alvin Puckett (11) finished 8th in the Varsity Discus (31.91m).
Sam Brown (12) placed 15th in the Varsity Shot Put (9.14m).
