Rockford, IL – July 11, 2025 — Jefferson High School is proud to announce the hiring of Raven Burns as the new Head Coach for both the Girls and Boys Volleyball programs. In addition to leading the J-Hawks on the court, Burns will also join the Jefferson faculty as a Physical Education teacher.

Coach Burns brings a wealth of experience to Jefferson, having spent the past seven years on the coaching staff at Rockford University, including the last three as Head Coach of the women’s volleyball program. Her leadership at the collegiate level has been marked by a commitment to developing athletes both on and off the court, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and a love for the game.

“We are super excited to welcome Raven to Jefferson,” said Athletic Director Zach Larson. “Her experience, knowledge, and energy will be a huge asset to our volleyball programs. Raven’s ability to connect with student-athletes and her passion for the game make her a great fit for our school community.”

The Girls Volleyball season officially kicks off with tryouts on Monday, August 11, and Coach Burns is eager to meet her team and begin building a competitive and unified program. The Boys season will follow in the spring.
