Supporting attendance is year-round work built on relationships, early intervention, problem-solving & partnership with families. If attendance becomes challenging at any point this year, reach out to your school. We want to work with you. Every month, Your Presence Matters.

About 70 Maria Montessori students helped the Rockford Park District plant native species at Marsh Park! The project is transforming a stormwater drainage area into a natural space and outdoor classroom through a partnership with RPS 205, Place Foundry and the Park District.

The Jefferson High School Class of 1976 celebrated its 50th reunion by returning to what is now Flinn Middle School. Classmates toured their former school, reminisced about old memories and celebrated 50 years of friendship.

RPS 205 Visual Arts is partnering with Rockford Barbell for Fall 2026 ArtScene! Student artwork from Eisenhower, Marshall, Jefferson, Guilford and The QUAD will be on display. Join us on Friday, Oct. 2 from 5-9 and Saturday, Oct. 3 from 4-9 at 208 Kishwaukee St.

When a student is struggling to attend school, there's often more to the story. Good attendance isn't just a school issue; it's a community effort. Families, schools & community partners all play a role in helping students overcome barriers & stay connected to learning. When a student is struggling to attend, the question isn't simply, “Why aren't you here?” It's also, “What is getting in the way, and how can we help?”

Bloom Elementary celebrated its Walk-A-Thon with a fun block party! Students enjoyed games, dancing and snacks while families and staff joined in. It was a joyful way to welcome the new school year and wrap up summer!

Rockford Reads kicked off its 25th year! Students at Lathrop Elementary enjoyed a bilingual story and took home their own copy, thanks to United Way RRV. Thank you to Rockford Rotary, RPL, volunteers, and all who continue this literacy tradition for our 2nd & 3rd grade students.

Maria Montessori at Marsh celebrated International Day of Peace! Students from Pre-K through 8th grade paraded to the field, led by the middle school band, and formed a human peace sign. They also shared peace through chalk art, posters and song.

Hello, Autumn! Crisp air, golden leaves, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin spice everything. It’s the season of warm hearts and cooler days. Wishing everyone a colorful and happy first day of Fall!

It was time to play at Hillman Elementary! Principal RJ Kuligowski, with the help of the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting celebrating the school’s brand-new playground. Students from each grade helped make the event extra special!

State Superintendent Dr. Tony Sanders visited Barbour and Constance Lane schools to see innovative learning in action. Students led tours and shared their experiences, while educators highlighted bilingualism, biliteracy, biculturalism, CHAMPS and community partnerships.

Sometimes the smallest moments of connection give students a reason to keep showing up & can make a BIG difference.
Attendance is about more than being in a seat. It's about connection, belonging & knowing that your presence matters.
Every student deserves to know they are missed when they're gone and valued when they're here.
