Napleton Subaru Rockford partnered with Adopt a Classroom and Guilford High School during Subaru Loves Learning Month. Teachers Ruth O’Donnell, Nathan Kirschmann, Michelle Tucker, Erin Krieg, Ryan Callahan, and Megan Droy each received kits and $500 for classroom supplies.

Hello, Autumn! Crisp air, golden leaves, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin spice everything—it’s the season of warm hearts and cooler days. Wishing everyone a colorful and happy first day of Fall!

Montessori celebrated the International Day of Peace with music, art, & a living peace sign. Activities included a schoolwide sing along, sidewalk chalk art, & a giant peace symbol formed by students & staff. This year’s theme was Act Now for a Peaceful World.

Edustaff congratulates Richard Meeks on being named Illinois Substitute of the Year for 2024-25. Richard has served RPS as a substitute for 10 years, exceeding expectations and building connections. His advice: arrive early, review plans, and communicate with teachers.

The MTSS department would like to recognize two of its Behavior Intervention Specialists. Anna Nicholson at Spring Creek Elementary & Jamie Fausett at Kennedy Middle School have completed their Registered Behavior Technician Certification through the Rockford School District.

Congratulations to RPS 205 School Board Vice President Nicole Bennett! She was recognized last night at a reception as an honoree for the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce’s 40 Under 40. Thank you for your commitment and service to the Rockford School District!

Last night, the Rockford school board recognized Cohort 4 graduates of the NIU Principal Residency Program. Zach Larson (Jefferson HS), Whitney Reed (Welsh ES), and Andrew Wimberly (Ellis ES) are all now certified administrators with their master's degrees. Congratulations!

Guilford High School's Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) led sports camps today @ West View Elementary! Students showing strong Behavior, Attendance, & Grades (BAGS) joined in basketball, football, soccer, & cheerleading, topped off w/ ice cream to celebrate their hard work!

Student Code of Conduct - Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee: The Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee is a collaborative group who review the Student Code of Conduct annually. The meetings are organized to increase discussion and collaboration regarding disciplinary data and student outcomes. The advisory committee will systematically analyze discipline data and determine where disparities exist, identify overuse of exclusionary discipline, and make recommendations for adjustment to the Student Code of Conduct. The advisory committee convenes annually and works collaboratively on the following tasks:

• Develop written policy guidelines and procedures on student discipline, including school searches and bullying prevention.
• Annually review and make necessary changes to the district student discipline policy and Student Code of Conduct.
• Analyze discipline data to map and provide additional support for students. Services might include mental health, substance abuse, violence intervention, and/or parent support opportunities.
• Collaborate to include provisions in the Student Code of Conduct to address the safety and support of students who have demonstrated behaviors that put them at risk for aggressive behavior, including bullying.
• Establish and maintain policies and procedures that reflect the district’s commitment to a positive, prevention-oriented discipline philosophy.

Rockford University students spent the morning with Flinn Middle School students as part of its Jane Addams Day of Service. Faculty, staff, and students volunteered their time painting a mural, drawing with chalk, and breaking the ice with the middle schoolers.

It's never too late to come back to school no matter how long you have been away. The door to your education is always open, and there is no wrong door.

Last night’s Blue & White Night at Whitehead Elementary was full of fun and community spirit! Families from Whitehead and Flinn Middle School enjoyed food trucks, games, touch a truck experiences, a dunk tank, and more while connecting with local vendors and services.
